When making an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Tuesday, actress Mila Kunis filled DeGeneres in on a sweet Valentine’s Day faux pas courtesy of her husband, Ashton Kutcher.
Kunis began her story by telling DeGeneres about a touching moment she had at home with Kutcher and the two children she shares with him. “Our kitchen faces a tree and there were birds nesting…birds are nesting outside of our kitchen window and my daughter and I, and my son get so into watching [the birds]. It was the most beautiful thing. There was a little robin’s nest and we got to see the birds being born. It was fascinating,” she told DeGeneres.
Kutcher remembered this precious moment that Kunis had with the children and decided to get her a pair of lovebirds for Valentine’s Day. Kunis and Kutcher then took the birds to a bird lady that DeGeneres recommended after they encountered her while out on the street. The husband and wife took the birds out to be groomed and learned that the birds weren’t the lovebirds they initially thought.
“When we brought our little lovebirds in to get their nails trimmed, she informed us that we in fact did not have love birds, but instead have parakeets!” Kunis explained. Turns out, the store that Kutcher went to misinformed him about the birds’ correct species.
Despite the faux pas, Kutcher and Kunis have decided to keep the birds considering how cute and friendly they are. Watch below to hear the heartwarming story in its entirety.
