The unique thing about this year’s finalist is the fact that they make use of environmental ethics in their design. Sustainability of design was one key factor that the executive vice president of Louis Vuitton, and the progenitor of the award, Delphine Arnault pointed out as the deciding factor in choosing the finalists. “This was evident with Bethany Williams and her commitment to helping minorities via her fashion engagements. Or Spencer Phipps interest in the environment,” she mentioned.

The LVMH Prize is used to celebrate, support, and encourage young fashion designers across the globe. The winner will go home with almost USD 340,000, and also support in financial, technical and personal areas from LVMH for one year.

The judges of the event will comprise of seasoned designers and top personalities in the fashion industry. The judges include; Maria Grazia Chiuri (creative director of Dior), J.W. Anderson (creative director of  Loewe), Nicolas Ghesquière (creative director of Louis Vuitton), Marc Jacobs, Kris Van Assche (creative director of Berluti), Jean-Paul Claverie (advisor to Bernard Arnault), Clare Waight Keller (creative director of Givenchy), Delphine Arnault (executive vice president of Louis Vuitton), and Humberto Leon & Carol Lim (creative directors of Kenzo), Sidney Toledano (chairman and chief executive officer of LVMH).
